Biography

Kathleen Gibbons is a Japanese American writer born in Japan and raised mostly in the U.S. Her novel-in-progress, set on California’s central coast, was long-listed for the 2023 Granum Foundation Prize. Her stories have appeared in Bellevue Literary Review, Air/Light Magazine, Cutleaf Journal, and received two Pushcart Prize nominations. She is the recipient of fellowships and residencies at BookEnds at Southhampton Arts Stony Brook University, Prospect Street Writer’s House, and Ragdale. She has taught fiction at Project Write Now and is an active member of the book inc writing collective. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Bennington College, and divides her time between Los Angeles and the Monterey Peninsula.
