Biography

Kathleen Gibbons is a Japanese American writer, born in Japan and raised in the U.S. Her novel-in-progress, set on California’s central coast, was long-listed for the 2023 Granum Foundation Prize. She is a 2025 Writer-In-Residence at Hedgebrook on Whidbey Island and was the recipient of a year-long fiction fellowship at BookEnds, Southhampton Arts Stony Brook University. Her stories have appeared in Bellevue Literary Review, Air/Light Magazine, Cutleaf Journal, and received two Pushcart Prize nominations. She has taught fiction writing at Project Write Now and is a member of the book inc writing collective. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Bennington College and divides her time between Los Angeles and the Monterey Peninsula.
