We’re excited to introduce Emma Moriarty, our newest Marketing & Communications Intern! As part of her role, Emma will help develop and distribute marketing materials, support our communications team with blogs and newsletters, and collaborate on innovative marketing strategies. Emma brings fresh perspectives to our team as she works alongside our Program Director to help amplify book inc’s mission and connect with our community of writers and readers.
Meet Emma
Emma Moriarty graduated from Lehigh University in May 2025 with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. She has been published in Lehigh University’s Amaranth Magazine in 2023 and 2025. She has been awarded the 2024 & 2025 Williams Prize in Creative Writing Non-Fiction, the 2024 Williams Prize for Creative Writing Poetry, and the 2024 & 2025 Kachel Prize.
Let’s Talk
BOOK INC: Welcome, Emma, to the book inc community. We are so excited to have you. To help our writers get to know you, please share a little bit about yourself. First off, where are you from?
EMMA: I am from Shrewsbury, NJ!
BOOK INC: How did you find out about us and what made you sign up to intern?
EMMA: I grew up with the Jannuzzi family and learned about the organization through Mrs…, I mean Liz Jannuzzi. I have always heard such high praise. Organizations that nurture communities of writers and provide advice and support are invaluable. I am excited to work as book inc’s intern.
BOOK INC: What type of things do you like to write?
EMMA: I have always loved reading and writing. I was that kid trying to write a manuscript in third grade. In high school and college, I started out writing poetry and ended up doing multiple independent studies in poetry and minoring in creative writing. That is when I returned to creative nonfiction, and have been drawn to it ever since!
BOOK INC: Do you have a favorite poem, essay, or book?
EMMA: One of my favorite poems is “Psalm and Lament” by Donald Justice, which I memorized for my poetry class! And my favorite book at the moment is The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion; it spoke to me deeply.
BOOK INC: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
EMMA: I have been backpacking in the Wyoming Wind River Range twice!
